- An approximately cone-shaped domain adjacent to a porphyroclast or porphyroblast, aligned parallel to the direction of the foliation and usually composed of a different mineral from the porphyroblast or clast. It is formed by rearrangement of material in response to inhomogeneous deformation of the matrix adjacent to the porphyroblast or clast (Passchier & Trouw, 1996).
