SCOPE NOTE
  • A malleable, ductile, white metal with characteristic sheen, considered a precious metal. As a pure metal, silver is second to gold in malleability and ductility, can be polished to a highly reflective surface, and was used, typically in an alloy, to make book fastenings and furniture on more expensive bindings, as well as in jewelry, coinage, mirrors, tableware, etc.
