DEFINITION
  • Regulating the design, construction, maintenance and operation of any machine supported for flight - such as airplanes, helicopters, gliders or hot air balloons. Registering aircraft to ensure they meet agreed specifications and are fit to fly. Monitoring conformance through inspections, testing and licensing. Includes certification of personnel such as flight crews, pilots, aviation engineers and others engaged in the maintenance of aircraft and equipment.
